러시아: ‘푸시 라이엇’ 멤버 한 명만 조건부 석방되어

모스크바 법원은 에카테리나 사무체비치(Ekaterina Samutsevich)에게 집행유예를 선고하고, 마리아 알레히나(Maria Alekhina), 나데즈다 톨로코니코바(NadezhdaTolokonnikova)에 대해서는 수감을 유지하겠다고 결정했다. 국제앰네스티는 모스크바 법원의 결정이 페미니스트 펑크그룹 푸시 라이엇이 3명이라는 점에서 정의가 실현되는 데 있어 반쪽 판결에 지나지 않는다고 보고 있다.

데이빗 디아즈-요게스(David Diaz-Jogeix) 유럽 중앙아시아 부국장은 “세 여성의 부당한 구금을 단축하는 결정은 반가운 소식이다. 하지만 그 누구도 기만되어서는 안 되며, 이런 결정으로 현재 정의는 실현되지 않고 있다. 당국은 최근 몇 개월 사이 표현의 자유에 대해 수많은 규제를 새롭게 만들어 냈다. 이 결정이 입증하듯이, 러시아 사법이 정부와 충돌한 사람들을 보호할 의지가 높지 않다”고 말했다.

디아즈-요게스 부국장은 “이 세 여성이 처음부터 기소되지 않았어야 했다. 마리아 알레히나와 나데즈다 톨로코니코바 또한 즉각적이고 조건 없이 석방되어야 한다”고 덧붙였다.

국제앰네스티는 유죄판결을 받은 푸시 라이엇의 멤버인 마리아 알레히나, 에카테리나 사무체비치, 나데즈다 톨로코니코바가 그들의 믿음을 평화적으로 표현했다는 이유로 부당한 처벌을 받은 양심수로 보고 있다.

Pussy Riot: Russian court orders conditional release of one, other two jailed

The decision by a Moscow court to give Ekaterina Samutsevich a suspended sentence and release her while upholding jail sentences against Maria Alekhina and NadezhdaTolokonnikova is only a half-measure in achieving justice for the three members of feminist punk group Pussy Riot, Amnesty International said.

“Any decision that shortens the wrongful detention of the three women is welcome. But no-one should be fooled – justice has not been done today. The government has introduced numerous new restrictions to freedom of expression in recent months. As this decision demonstrates, Russia’s judiciary is unlikely to offer much protection to those who fall foul of them,” said David Diaz-Jogeix, Europe and Central Asia Deputy Programme Director.

“The three women should not have been prosecuted in the first place. Maria Alekhina and NadezhdaTolokonnikova should also be released, immediately and unconditionally,” said David Diaz-Jogeix.

The organization considers the three convicted Pussy Riot members – Maria Alekhina, Ekaterina Samutsevich and NadezhdaTolokonnikova – to be prisoners of conscience wrongfully prosecuted and convicted solely for the peaceful expression of their beliefs.
