지난 3월 30일 국제앰네스티는 콜롬비아 게릴라 조직인 무장혁명군(FARC)이 약 1년간 억류 중이던 콜롬비아 보안군 포로를 석방했다는 소식에 환영의 뜻을 밝혔다. 더불어 무장혁명군에 납치와 인질극을 즉시, 무조건적으로 중단하라고 요구했다.
지난 3월29일 무장혁명군은2009년부터 억류해온 군인 조수에 다니엘 카르보(Josue Daniel Calvo)를 풀어줬다.
1997년부터 억류 중인 육군 하사 파블로 에밀리오 몬카요(Pablo Emilio Moncayo)도 곧 풀려날 것으로 예상된다. 2006년 억류 중 숨진 경찰출신의 줄리안 에르네스토 구에바라(Julian Ernesto Guevara)의 유해도 곧 반환될 것으로 보인다.
국제앰네스티 마르첼로 폴라크(Marcelo Pollack) 콜롬비아 조사관은 “사랑하는 이를 다시 만난 가족들의 기쁨이 아직 억류된 이들과 그 가족들, 실종자 가족들의 고통을 가려서는 안된다”고 말한다.
콜롬비아는 최근 납치건수가 급격하게 줄어들기는 했지만, 여전히 준군사 조직과 범죄조직, 게릴라 그룹들이 수 백 명을 납치해 억류하고 있다.
FARC releases Colombian soldier

Amnesty International on Monday welcomed the release of a member of the Colombian security forces held captive for almost a year by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).
The organization also urged the guerrilla group to put an immediate and unconditional end to kidnapping and hostage-taking.
The FARC on Sunday released army soldier Josue Daniel Calvo, held since 2009, and is soon expected to release army sergeant Pablo Emilio Moncayo, held captive by the group since 1997, and to return the remains of police officer Julian Ernesto Guevara, who died in captivity in 2006.
“The joy of the families reunited with their loved ones should not obscure the suffering of those who remain in captivity and their families, as well as of those who have had no news about the fate of family members who are missing or disappeared,” said Marcelo Pollack, Amnesty International’s Colombia Researcher.
Although the number of kidnappings has fallen sharply over recent years, guerrilla groups, as well as paramilitary groups and criminal gangs, continue to hold hundreds of people.
