제2차 세계대전 당시 일본군 성노예제에 대한 한국과 일본 정부의 합의에 대하여, 히로카 쇼지 국제앰네스티 동아시아 조사관은 다음과 같이 밝혔다.
“오늘의 합의로 일본군 성노예제로 인해 고통받은 수만 명의 여성들의 정의구현에 종지부를 찍어서는 안 된다. 할머니들은 협상테이블에서 배제되었다. 양국 정부의 이번 협상은 정의회복보다는 책임을 모면하기 위한 정치적 거래였다. 생존자들의 요구가 이번 협상으로 헐값에 매도되어서는 안 된다.
성노예제 생존자들이 그들에게 자행된 범죄에 대해 일본정부로부터 완전하고 전적인 사과를 받을 때까지 정의회복을 향한 싸움은 계속될 것이다.”

‘Comfort women’ deal must not deny survivors justice
In response to the announcement that the Japanese and South Korean governments have reached an agreement on Japan’s World War II military sexual slavery system, Hiroka Shoji, East Asia Researcher at Amnesty International said:
“Today’s agreement must not mark the end of the road in securing justice for the hundreds of thousands women who suffered due to Japan’s military sexual slavery system. The women were missing from the negotiation table, and they must not be sold short in a deal that is more about political expediency than justice. Until the women get the full and unreserved apology from the Japanese government for the crimes committed against them, the fight for justice goes on.”
