지난 주말 반전 시위에 참가한 수백여 명을 구금시킨 것은 러시아의 표현과 집회의 자유가 더욱 강력히 탄압받고 있음을 보여주는 또 다른 징후라고 국제앰네스티가 밝혔다.
또한, 모스크바 법원은 3일 시위 참가자 2명에게 5일간의 행정구금을 명령했다.
세르게이 니키틴(Sergei Nikitin) 국제앰네스티 모스크바사무소 소장은 “반전 시위자들에 대한 정부의 탄압이 매우 걱정스러운 수준이다. 수많은 도시에서 사람들이 시위에 참가한 것만으로 탄압의 대상이 되고 있다. 이는 정부가 용인하는 괴롭힘과 협박”이라며 “러시아 정부는 집회의 자유와 표현의 자유를 존중해야 할 의무가 있다. 국제앰네스티가 양심수로 간주하는 2명의 시위자를 즉각적이고 무조건적으로 석방해야 할 것”이라고 밝혔다.
우크라이나 사태에 대한 러시아의 군사 개입을 반대하며 시위를 벌이던 시위대 수백 명이 마네자냐 광장과 러시아 국방부 앞에서 체포되었다. 이 중 수십 명은 경찰서에서 밤을 새워야 했다.
또한, 상트페테르부르크에서도 수십여 명이 구금되었다고 알려졌다.
세르게이 니키틴 사무국장은 “현재 러시아와 우크라이나 간의 관계 국면이 표현과 집회의 자유를 억압하는 구실이 되어서는 안 되며, 이로 인해 침해당하는 인권이 있어서도 안 된다”고 밝혔다.

The detention of hundreds of anti-war protesters over the weekend is another manifestation of the increasing crackdown on the freedom of expression and assembly in Russia, Amnesty International said.
Today a Moscow court also ordered the detention of two protesters for five days on administrative charges.
“The government’s crackdown of the anti-war protesters is highly alarming. In a number of cities people have been targeted for taking part in demonstrations. This is state-sanctioned harassment and intimidation,” said Sergei Nikitin, Director of Amnesty International’s Moscow Office.
“The Russian authorities are obliged to respect the rights to freedom of assembly and freedom of expression. They must immediately and unconditionally release the two imprisoned protesters whom Amnesty International considers to be prisoners of conscience.”
Hundreds of demonstrators protesting against Russian military intervention in Ukraine were detained in front of the Ministry of Defence and on Manezhnaya square. Dozens were kept at police stations overnight.
It is also reported that several dozen people were detained in St. Petersburg.
“The current developments in the relationship between Russia and the Ukraine should not be a pretext for any impediment of freedom of expression and assembly, nor for the violation of any other human rights,” said Sergei Nikitin.
