Women in Denmark encounter many barriers in accessing justice for rape. The vast majority of rapes are never reported and out of those that are, very few end up with a conviction. This report, which includes interviews with survivors, activists and officials, highlights that while there is a widespread perception in Denmark that gender equality has been achieved, the authorities must do more to live up to this positive image. Amnesty International calls on the Danish authorities to change the legal definition of rape to one based on sexual autonomy and consent and to improve the treatment of victims during all stages of the legal process.
